The socket welding flange refers to the flange welded to the pipe end and the outside side by inserting the end of the pipe into the blue ring ladder. There are two types with neck and without neck. The flanges with neck flanges are good in rigidity, small in welding deformation and good in sealing, and can be used for occasions where pressure is 1.0~10.0MPa. B flange for container is also a socket welding flange, which is used for occasions with high sealing requirements. When designing, socket welding flange can be checked according to integral flange.

1.The pipe needn’t be beveled for weld preparation. Temporary tack fastening is not any required for alignment,
because in theory the fitting ensures correct alignment.
2. The weld metal cannot penetrate into the bore of the pipe.
3. they will be employed in place of rib fittings, therefore the risk of leak is far smaller. Radiography isn’t
practical on the fillet weld; thus correct fitting and fastening is crucial. The fillet weld could also be inspected
by surface examination, magnetic particle (MP), or liquid penetrant (PT) examination strategies.
4. Construction prices ar under with butt-welded joints because of the shortage of exacting fit-up needs and
elimination of special machining for butt weld finish preparation.
